EALING
YOUTH CHOIR
Ealing
Youth Choir was founded in 1985 and is open to all singers aged 10-21
who enjoy a wide range of music-making. The choir has been on TV (London
Tonight) and radio (Classic FM).
Since 2004 it has been running as part of EJMS, rehearsing on Saturdays 11.30am-12.30pm.
We perform all kinds of music: by Purcell, Monteverdi, Lennon & McCartney, Bach, arrangements of popular songs, Vivaldi, spirituals, Britten, Ward Swingle, madrigals, improvisation and new compositions.
The choir enjoys singing acappella, but frequently collaborates with other local music groups (Ealing Symphony Orchestra, Ealing Junior Music School, Hanwell Children's Choir, Ealing Choral Society, West London Sinfonia) and visiting musicians (Jubilate Choir from Pecs, Hungary, and the Osterhaninge Girls' Choir from Sweden).
We performs in various venues in the London Borough of Ealing and elsewhere. In 1997 EYC won an award from the National Lottery's Arts for Everyone Scheme, facilitating a series of choral workshops with leading tutors (Mike Brewer of the National Youth Choir of Great
Britain, Ken Burton of the London Adventist Chorale, Keel Watson of English National Opera and Roddy Skeaping of City Waites).
